Identification 101
Are
you curious about what kind of trees live on your own property,
but not sure how to identify them? Can you name the only conifer
that sheds its needles like a deciduous tree sheds its leaves?
Join us for a day of learning how to identify common trees of Michigan.
We´ll show you the clues revealed by needles, leaves, bark,
cones, flowers, fruits, and other characteristics. Along the way
you´ll learn about historical, commercial, medicinal, and
wildlife use of our common trees and gain insights into why certain
species grow where they do. This class will open up a whole new
world to you when you walk through a forest. Pack a field lunch,
water, and snacks and dress appropriately for a day in the woods.
